Getting a tattoo is a serious decision. A tattoo is a everlasting body ornament so special care ought to be noticed to look the fitting tattoo shop and tattoo artist. The present breed of tattoo artists is professional, educated and very skilled. However, not all professional tattoo artists are good. They nonetheless need to satisfy many necessities before you choose one.

Do not buy this ink. I thought initially it would be great, and like they say, you get what you pay for. Spend the extra couple bucks and buy some Intenze, Starbrite, or Eternal. Promise you the extra money is worth it. Dont waste your time.

I just recieved my ink today, and i was happy with what I got. The packaging is nothing like what the other reveiwer said but the bottles were well sealed and nothing busted. I love the variety and basically what you see is what you get. I thought it was a good buy and arrived a lot faster then expected, concidering I am not in the USA right now. Cant wait to put the colors on skin ^_^

i bought this set expecting a larger bottle size... i guess i forgot to read it would be 1/2 oz sizes... cuase i was expecting 2 oz or at least 1 oz.

this ink is rich and thick in color/texture... it def looks great in the skin... bold and bright. and on the darker colors, they come out bold and dark.... so far my fave one to use is the special Tribal Black they have in this set. i have used the reg black just to find out how big of a diff there is b/t that one and the tribal black.. i'd have to say the tribal black just comes out looking fuller and darker... i don't know if this ink company makes bigger sizes of just the Tribal Black color alone, but i am most interested in picking up a big bottle of it... it's one of the best Tribal Black's i've used... it ranks among some of my top fave tribal blacks to use... including others of the Tribal Black Pass from Joker Tattoo Supply, Kurosumi, etc...

the colors included in this set mostly incl. alot of diff shades of blue, red, a few shades of purple (violet, dark purple, lilac), about 7 diff shades of green.... the set mostly focuses on those colors cuase in this set those colors have about 7-8 diff shades. i was surprised to see a couple bottles of brown (brown, dk brw, and tan), some yellow and oranges, some pink... the set has some good variety in colors, i'll give it that...but if you're like me and you're lookin to buy ink at a low price but get big sizes, then you might want to rethink this purchase.... unless you want 1/2 oz sizes... it's still not a bad purchase though... good for if you just starting out, cuase this is alot of diff colors at a very low price... but if you're lookin for a bit more, you may want to shop the 1 1/2-2oz sizes and up... i guess it depends on how much you're going to be tattooing and goin thru the ink... if you're in a shop, then this is not going to be a good purchase for you since you'll go thru it like water... but if you're apprenticing, then it may work out for you.

i'm only giving it 4 stars becuase of the size of the inks - the 1/2 oz... i'd throw it 5 stars if they were say at least 1 oz size... all in all not a bad set or purchase, but there is better out there... just got to look around for them deals..

When I ordered this for my aspiring brother, I expected something totally different. Usually when you order a product that claims to have multiple items in it, you get a few colors that are the same.

This wasn't the case at all! Every color was different and even had very vibrant and lifelike colors included. Everything from tobacco sauce red to your basic black.

I was most pleased at the packaging. I figured I would have to sort through a box full of bottles when it arrived but I didn't. The kit contains four boxes with seven colors inside. The boxes contain see through windows so you can view the colors and anyone opening this as a gift can see immediately what they are getting.

For anyone who is wanting to become a tattoo artist or already is one, I quickly recommend this product. You won't be dissapointed.

Tattoo ink preference really depends on the artist. I have been a professional tattoo artist for 6 years now, And I'll tell you this. Most of the reviewers here are NOT professional artists. They are merely experimenting. And their reviews (in my opinion) are irrelevant. Back to the matter at hand. Prizm ink is GREAT ink to use...On fake skin or pig ears. To me it is considered pretty low on the totem pole. Yes, It is rich and thick. But it also comes with some issues. Like fading rapidly after the work has healed. Or being too chalky. Ink that is thick is decent. But ink that is TOO thick isn't good. In my opinion, Prizm is a little too thick for me. I'd never personally use it on human skin, Due to fast fading. And not bright, Lasting colors in skin. What people fail to realize is...Ink looks GREAT, In the bottle, But the pigment will slightly change when it's in human skin. It's about experimenting with your colors, Personally. I don't use just one brand of ink. It depends on the work. If you're looking for a good starter set, I'd reccommend things like Kuro Sumi, Or Starbrite inks. Stay away from...Millenium, Iron Butterfly, Prizm, And Skin Candy (Unless it's outlining ink) As always though. Superior tattoo, Has the best products on the planet.

No surprises here: for the most part, tattoo artists' drawings and paintings executed on paper and canvas, rather than on living human skin, bear a strong resemblance to tattoos. However, for anyone interested in tattoo art, this is a worthwhile book, because most of it consists of full-color pages of artwork. The book is a treat to look at.

ART BY TATTOOISTS showcases the personal, conventional artwork of 26 expert tattooists, male and female. Each artist's chapter of color plates is prefaced by a short interview, in which the artists talk about why they became tattooists, when they got their first tattoos, and what, if any, creative distinctions exist between their tattoo art and their more conventional--and perhaps more serious--other art.

Art by Tattooists: Beyond Flash could have been called "Beyond Flesh" instead, because it features works by tattoo artists that do not use skin as the canvas. 26 artists are featured, and Jo Waterhouse presents 4 to 6 pages of their art. She also gives very brief bios, and snippets of interviews. Typically the written portions discuss what media (besides tattooing) the artists work in, and how their tattoo art influences or differs from their work in other media. Websites are listed for the artists and/or their studios, though why all the myspace links but none to Facebook or Twitter?

As a person who knows little about art and tattooing this was a very satisfying introduction to these artists. It is particularly interesting to see how some of the artists such as Clifton Carter and Regino Gonzales produce works that one would not guess to be by a tattoo artist if not previously familiar with them. One of Waterhouse's goals in producing this work is to show how tattoo artists are finally coming to be accepted as artists, and to this end she is successful.

How does one review art? What I like, you hate...and vica versa. I liked this book. My fascination with tattooing began at a young age when I first learned to draw. Although I dont have a tattoo, I still enjoy seeing them and seeing the wonderful shapes, colors and amazing sense of fantasy associated with them.

This book is no different. Although a different canvas is used, you can still see the rebel, the sinner, and the saint all come through in the art. Its wonderful, creepy, solemn, beautiful, and amazing all at the same time. I suppose more than anything, this book is a solid representation that tattoo artists are artists first, tattooists second. The group of individuals showcased in this book come from a variety of backgrounds, each makes his/her art for different reasons, but they all add up to the same conclusion: beautiful. This is cool book filled with even cooler images by some of the most talented, underrated artists on the planet.

Jo Waterhouse never claimed her book was gonna include actual tattoos. This is a compilation of 26 artists' off the skin work. Like ANY gallery exhibit, the work shown is selective - incredibly diverse, a little international - BUT SELECTIVE. And that's kinda what the book resembles, a catalog of an incredibly, wildly entertaining gallery exhibit. The print quality rocks; the intense, various and brightly colored art practically pops off of every page. There are male and female artists, and art that's beautiful, gory, and beautifully gory. A wide array of mediums is explored: acrylics, enamel, gold leaf, gouache, India ink, linoleum, mixed, oil, photoshop, screenprint, and watercolor. The artists created their pieces on board, canvas, illustration board, paper, and wood.
Gotta say I love the size of the book - 8 3/4" square. It's different; small enough to fit in your bag to keep you occupied on the bus, the El, or while you wait in line, yet big enough to hold it's own on the shelf or on the coffee table. All of the art is shown at ample size for absorbing the details, Waterhouse frequently shows just one image that fills the entire page. Because I see this book filling the niche of a nice little overview of off the skin works by artists whose primary job is the art of tattoo, the sparsity of accompanying narrative bothered me not at all.
In summary, I love it, and think it will make a fab holiday gift for both my artist and my tattooed friends and fam.
