Is it a tradition for Yi women to tattoo their hands?
I am research the Yi minority in China, and when I traveled to Yunnan Province, China, I took several photographs of several different Yi woman who’s hands were completely tattooed. Is this a traditional practice?… because I am unable to find something on the internet and I have been unable to contact someone who does know.

I do believe this tattoo art is called Henna…… I thought it was an ancient Indian art,which it is However the trade of the “Silk Road ” is at least 1000 years older than Christ so goods as well as fashion may have passed from India to China and vise versa, check the link below to see if it is similar
